Honestly,
I view that during this semester I started off fine. I think I got grdually better, but then fell off slightly towards the end.
I think I could have done a little better at the end of the semester. I could have blogged and worked in my sketchbook considerably more.
I think that I accomplished quite a bit during this semester. I learned plenty of things I didn't know how to do, like pushing line variation to show distance and space.
Nevertheless, I think that I did a fine job overall.
The semester has exceeded my expectations by far.
I expected my freshman year to be way crazier than it has been and I expected drawing class to be dull, despite the fact I like to draw.
But this semester has been awesome.
If I had to give myself a grade, I guess that I would give myself a B-.

self-portrait-conte homework
i hate conte.
i freakn hate charcoal pencil too. only because they keep breaking!
graphite pencil is okay but you have to work really hard to get dark lines.
i guess conte is okay. i like it wen u dont have to worry about good crisp lines. that's when conte sucks.
i didnt really like this assignment because to me my picture looked like someone else. then it felt like my proportions were off.
but it does look good from a distance.

Blind Contour
top right:graphite.
top left:conte.
bottom left:bamboo and ink.
bottom right: stick and ink.

Yeah...this was not very enjoyable to draw, but it brought some good laughs. none of these materials did anything right for me and it was really hard to draw the facial features using just one line. I tried to start within the face then draw on the outside. but the first time i did the opposite and it did not turn out well.
The first one that I drew was the stick and ink, then the bamboo and ink, the conte, and the graphite pencil last.

drapery assignment
ok these are my images for the assignment....and i'm sorry that all the angles are weird. i had to use my webcam and it's connected to my laptop. the whole thing was jus a mess. and ignore the clutter in the background.
this assignment wasn't hard but it was a little difficult to decide where the planes needed to go and when and where to push line variation. There was also the whole finding crap to put under this sheet thing. I had to set this thing up 3 times because all the angles where looking weird and i wanted to have some of the sheet pulled back to expose the crutch and part of the box.

getting started
um...i'm little unsure about how this is going to work out.
i'm a little confused, but i think that the point of this exercise was to emphasize
the relationship between positive/negative space and the different patterns and line types.
since the beginning, i kinda had an idea of what i would do for this assignment. not completly sure but i had a general idea of what i wanted to accomplish.
i was kinda tempted to draw diagonal lines.
i thought that diagonal lines, along with the vertical lines, would create a grander (if that's a word) image.
a more visually pleasing piece.
